The project goal is to complete building improvements that will reduce energy consumption and significantly reduce the annual operation cost for the Greenhouses. The primary focus of work includes Lighting Control, Ridge Vent Control, Side Vent Control, with an interface with Direct Digital Control (DDC).
Contracting method and required sub-contractors:
The Prime Contractor will be selected through a PIPS selection process. Because the majority of the work is electrical, the Prime Contractor will be selected from the University of Minnesota pool of registered electrical contractors. The selected Prime Contractor will be responsible to coordinate all work: general, mechanical, electrical, greenhouse controls and greenhouse structural renovation, etc.
Recommended or required sub-contractors for specific work under the prime contractor:
Argus Controls Systems is the required greenhouse controls subcontractor. Argus has provided the existing greenhouse digital control system and is the selected controls provider for this project.
Albert J. Lauer is the recommended greenhouse structure subcontractor. Lauer has provided greenhouse construction, renovation and maintenance at the University for 40 years.

Ranges 370F, 370G and 370H - May 17 to Aug 6 (Unoccupied Range)
Range 370J - June 14 to September 17 (Unoccupied Range)
Range 423 will be Unoccupied from June 1 to July 30 (Unoccupied range)
Range 415 will be Occupied from May 17 to Sept 17 (Occupied Range)
Project Number identification per building:
The Greenhouse Complex of Buildings, and Ranges, for this project., are being identifed as Plant Growth Facliites West, however, individual buildings, do have separated building numbers. The U of M drawing archive is divided up by building number, so individual buildings on this project will each have a unique project number, including the numbers listed below:

Building 415 (02-415-10-1727)
Building 423 (02-423-10-1728)
Separate building permits per each building:
The Building Code Division at the University of Minnesota requires that separate building have separate building permits.
Schedule of Values per building:
Upon successful award of a contract, the Prime Contractor must provide a Schedule of Values, which is separated by building number or project number.
Awared of a single contract to a vendor:
It is the intention to award the project to a single vendor, regardless of the number of buildings included in the final scope of work. All vendor payment applications will be against a single contract.
This project will take place at Plant Growth Facilites West, located at 1552 Gortner Avenue St. Paul , MN 55108, in accordance with the attached drawings and specifications.
