Men’s and Women’s (Joint) Basketball Practice Facility

Project Overview
The University of Minnesota intends to contract with an Architectural/Engineering and Planning/Landscape Architecture consultant team to provide professional services for the following project:

Construction of a new ICA Men’s and Women’s Basketball practice facility
• Phase 1 Programming and pre-design services
o development of space requirements
o identify site options – location, orientation, coverage
o test options in context of Campus Master and Precinct Plans
o create accurate images for cost estimating and fund raising
• Phase 2 Full architectural/engineering, and landscape architecture services
(after approval of Phase 1 and contingent upon funding)
o for the construction of the building
o for development of the selected site

The primary objectives for this project are:
• to create a functional facility that supports the practice needs of both
the ICA Men’s and Women’s basketball programs
• to create a practice facility that is attractive to prospective recruits
• to identify a building site that optimizes the relationship of the proposed practice facility to existing support space (locker and sports medicine rooms) in Williams Arena
• to enhance the campus environment and distinct appearance of the Athletics District
