| Bob Hindle spent twenty-seven years in the construction industries of Britain and South Africa, where he held many positions in large construction companies, from Technician to planning engineer and contract manager to managing director. He was involved in many notable large projects, including three universities: University of Manchester computer building and Central Precinct; University of Port Elizabeth; University of Transkei.
In 1988 he became a full-time academic at the University of Cape Town where he was responsible for the Construction Management Programme for a number of years and was responsible for the design and implementation of the very successful taught M.Sc. in Project Management. He took early retirement from UCT in 2001 and has continued as a part-time academic associated with a number of programmes since then, primarily as the Regional Director for the Construction Management by Distance Learning for the University of Bath, UK and as the Deputy Director of the Construction Management Programme at Stellenbosch University, South Africa.
Bob has been involved in construction development initiatives driven by the Government of South Africa and other bodies, for many years. He has just ended a two-year period of office as Africa region President of CIOB Africa (Professional home for CM and PM) and he is also a consultant offering construction business development advice and project management services to a wide variety of clients.
